Entrepreneurs: How to choose the right applications to automate your daily life?

In our opinion, the 3 essential elements to choose a good app are: automation, Zapier/Piesync and user experience

Today there are more than 1,000 applications that digitise your business processes. However, when you look into the subject, it is difficult to (i) identify the most optimal one for your company (Salesforce vs Hubspot, Gmail vs Outlook), (ii) the cost of setting it up and (iii) the one that will complement your existing work environment.

  1. Automation

There are recurring and indispensable tasks that are unfortunately time consuming. It is essential to target applications that allow you to automate them and save time. You will be able to allocate the time saved on another task and thus gain in competitiveness. If you use Stripe for example, it would be interesting to consider switching to the online accounting tool Quickbooks: all your payments and invoices will be automatically recorded without any manual action!

  1. Zapier / Piesync

As Chartered Accountants, we find it tricky to use an application that is not connected to Zapier / Piesync. This would mean that your app functions as a silo isolated from the rest of your communication processes; forcing manual "processing" that slows down the flow of information in your entity... with a deplorable impact on your productivity.

  1. User Experience (UX)

The main indication of your UX with the app will be when you test the app (thanks to the free 15 days). If you have very few open questions about how it works, your employees will pick it up easily. You can then say that its UX is good.
